and from research I've done into HGE is that a cause is hard to find.
I even had it isolated to a certain event that I thought caused my dog's. Until it happened again without my "trigger". He's since been in contact with the "trigger" numerous times only to have zilch happen.
I think most of my time has been spent poo watching since I found this discussion board. Now I'm even looking up pictures. However, I am going to bookmark that page for future reference.
I saw that earlier, but she hasn't had any vomiting.
Also, it has been more than 24 hours but less than 48 hours and she is almost back to normal.
I think she would eat a big ol bowl of food right now if offered.
The last time I fed her the chicken/rice mix, she picked out the chicken and left the rice, then about an hour later licked the bowl clean getting all the rice.
Also, no more diarrhea since last feeding.
Unless she is not better tomorrow, I probably won't take her in to the vet but I sure would like to know what caused it and I think it had to be the grain or me being away from her for the 5 hours.
I know that some parasites are microscopic but I couldn't see anything that would resemble one in her poop.
Just an update to let everyone know how it turned out.
She appeared perfectly fine the next day. I gradually increased the type and amount of food and now she is eating RMB's again and no sign of anything wrong.
I suppose I will never know what was wrong but wanted to do any update so if anyone is searching here they can see what happened with my dog. Also one of the previous posts lists a url that has pictures for comparison if that helps any.
