How can I make him follow me I have done the treat thing he just turns his nose up and trys to walk the other way.
I want to tether him in the house as he is a small dog and can fit to poo or pee under anything.
What can I do to make hime follow I really don't want to carry him everywhere. But at this point its like no mom I want to go away from you.
I bought him a harness. Because chis have this thing with there neck that it is not good for them to pull on a collar.
How can I get him to follow me around the house when I want him out of his kennel. I have used raw meat different treats natural variety rolls. And even hot dogs he loves them but will not follow to get them.
Stephanie - does he like toys instead of treats? Maybe a squeeky toy would get his attention or something on a string that would make him want to chase it? Just a thought - I have no experience with chi's (can't spell the whole word either!!)
Well he does not like toys either.
He is all of 1 1/2 pounds so he is not very big at all.
But I want to train him as I would do any dog.
Because I dont want a yappy little thing in a few months.
I mean I could carry him around with no problem but he is kenneled trained already. And he is very smart learning sit and stay and layday is still iffy. BUt he has time for that.
So how do yall get your dogs to follow you through the house.
When on a leash tethered to you
I am but he will not follow me if he wants to do something else.
He is on a pretty routine sheduale but like right now he does not want to be tethered and he is pulling to get loose. And that bothers me. Will he do that for a while or am I doing something wrong
The main thing is he does not want to follow me around the house
Well tonight he alll the sudden relieze he is not getting off the leash I guess cause he is down right on my tail all the time
So mabye I jumped the gun but he is doing it now.
Thanks for the help
Hi Stephanie, Don't you just love chihuahua puppies? Congratulations on your new puppy. (Sorry I am late with the congrats...been training dogs all week.) I never tethered Pepper when she was little. I was so afraid of stepping on her accidentally. The size is so different from a chi pup to a german shepherd pup. Pepper is seven years old now and follows me around the house, just in case I happen to sit down for a few minutes, she jumps up and lays down beside me.
