Since they don't know what the toxin is, I'd rather play it safe and not feed them at all. At this point, we don't even know if small amounts over a long term could cause cumulative damage. Why take the chance? That's like saying that it's OK to feed chocolate as long as you don't feed a toxic dose. I don't know anyone who wants to take a chance with chocolate.
I've never fed chocolate. I wouldn't even trust those little carob treats. That golden was a very talented food stealer. I still can't believe she didn't even have a reaction.
Maybe I'll just stick to prunes. (for the dog of course) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Please tell me you haven't heard anything about prunes or dried apricots? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Have a nice day! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
As far as the food aggression goes....I see both points. You should never screw with your pups head. I like the methods that Deanna and LSwanston mentioned. I also would never push the issue with an adult dog with food aggression issues. However, I live by the rule that I CAN and WILL be able to take ANYTHING off of any dog that I have raised from puppyhood ant ANYTIME. I would not ignore that behavior from a 13 week old pup...no freakin way. I would correct the devil out of that little sucker for that behavior then use methods similar to what Deanna and LSwanston mentioned. I would focus more on making the puppy think that my hands or other hands by the bowl is a pleseant experience rather than constantly taking the pups food away which I don't agree with.
