I finally made the switch to raw and I have to say I LOVE IT!! My lab was from 5-6 bowel movts. a day to 1. My Dobe on the other hand has terrible diarrhea again. I don't know if I gave him too much to quick or what. I'm using the sample diet that Cindy made in one of her articles. I looked this up in past posts but I'm confused in what I am finding?????
Some dogs can switch cold turkey, some cant. I had a pup a while back that had to be switched very gradually or he'd get the squirts.
Canned pumpkin if you can get him to eat it is wonderful stuff. Do not try too many different foods at once. Maybe try one thing and only add one new food a week. Keep trying!
You can start with a single animal protein. Just plain ground beef might cause the runs too if there is no calcium. My pup's poop gets a little soft if she gets a little too much muscle meat.
If your little Dobe has the runs, you could start with boiled chicken and rice. And then add & increase parboiled chicken, followed by raw chicken as you go along, while reducing the cooked chicken meat.
It might help ease his transition if full-on raw is hard on him.
