I am looking for a few book recommendations. Ideally I would like objective an informative book. A book that is not one sided or overly opinionated but offers arguments for and against controversial positions.
Question.
Has anyone read anything recent about Canine in vitro fertilization? My interests in this where sparked by forum comments related to my topic about back yard breeding. It may be a very good way to limit litter size and possibly puppy selection.
thank you

I have a question. I've looked through your website and much of your breeding information. I was wondering if you can recommend any breed specific (French Bulldog) breeding books? I've looked EVERYWHERE and can not find anything breed specific. Sure, I've found Frenchie owners type manuals and books with a chapter about breeding but nothing specifically on breeding for that breed type.
Would breeding French bulldogs be different than breeding another type of dog? Just wondering; I know English bulldogs don't mate naturally but I thought they were the only ones?
Some Frenchies (as well as some English Bulldogs) will mate unassisted, some males need to be collected and the female AI'ed, it all depends on the dog.
Just get a video (Leergurg's) or book dealing with AI, all the parts are the same no matter the breed.

Breed forums are a good idea. I whould also concider finding an experienced breeder to answer your questions. This is how I am striving to get smart here :P
French bulldogs can mate unassisted and give natural birth. But with time passing, at least the birthing part seems to get more rare. My frenchie male needed an experienced help the on first mating but was on the top of the situation the next time. Also the female gave birth to 5 puppies herself without problems. But there was a time when english bulldogs could do the same and this seems not to be the case today. Looks seem to be put in front of health again...
