WOW - Secretary of the Army visited the barracks at Fort Bragg and worldwide inspection of all barracks going on, all because of Ed. I'm seriously blown away.....and encouraged.
Thank you Ed, for making a difference in something so important.
Here is something ironic for you. Embedded in the text of the page referenced by the link below is a tool called, Answer Tips. You can double click any word in the text and it will give you the definition of that word.
Just for kicks, I double clicked Barracks. Here is part of the definition:
For much of European history barracks were the exception rather than the rule, and soldiers were billeted in civilian lodgings or public houses. This was a generally unsatisfactory process, and barracks became increasingly common from the late 17th century, their construction paralleling and exemplifying the rise of standing armies. Barracks, like fortresses, were embodiments of a royal authority that their imposing interiors often reflected. Vauban's masterpiece, the citadel of Lille, contains stately barracks designed by a local architect, Simon Vollant, while the stern Fort George, in the Scottish Highlands, contains granite barrack blocks intended almost as much to impress as to provide accommodation.
There are three constants in life: Death, taxes and the love of a dog.
Thank you for being a hero in this and taking a lead for us who also care about our soldiers living conditions, and this day being the national day of prayer when many are remembering the soldiers who have made great sacrifice for our nation.
I admit I did not watch the tv this morning and I only watched a portion of Ed's video on the u-tube. Why? Because what he was reporting is only situation normal. As those who have been involved with the armed services for the USA know.
No matter what ones postion on the war is. Wheather it was justified or not. Wheather it has been waged properly or not. Wheather it should continue or not. The fact is in war and in peace time these young men and women; from past, the present and in the future armies, deserve better than what is received in the aftermath of the smoke clearing.
What Ed is reporting is nothing new, the throw away mentality the US. populous and government have in regards for it's armed services when the job is done goes back a century and more. I only hope he stated the case so passionately and eloquently as to bring light on the shame no one till now has felt. I hope he spoke with such rightous indignation so to pigue conscience of the restful self absorbed politicians of all ilks. I hope he spoke with so much depth of feeling, the fans of the lastest Star Seach idol was crying for the injustice of it all. I hope he spoke with such clear direction no one cared where in the world Matt Lauer is and actually wished Matt would get lost. I only hope he spoke with such weight as to rise people to get off their fat butts and pay attention and pay their debts. Just once.
Ed, I'm glad someone isn't going quietly into the night.
Thank you.
Randy
