I got one with my last leerburg purchase and am definitely surprised with its durability, I was just wondering, my mal is the type of dog that can (and did) get the treat disc off the surface rather quickly, and proceeded to eat it all in one sitting (I was not home for about 2 hours), this wont cause anything other than maybe some diarrhea right? In any event this toy definitely did the trick, he spent his time working on that, instead of my shoes, books etc.
I have a Lab/Husky mix (aprox.100LB) that does the same thing, and have not had any problems. The only issue I have is that I find the refill treat disc a little expensive; especially since they get eaten so fast. He does love them when he gets them though.
Unless your dog has an issue with one of the ingredients (mine gets gunky ears anytime she eats corn, so I can't give the discs anymore) it shouldn't bother them in the least.
If you want to increase the life of the disc a little, put it in the middle part of the toy instead of the outer portion it is intended for. It takes some manuevering (expletives help), but it's worth the effort when it lasts more than 10 minutes.
My adult male is the same and has zero problems getting the disks out. I don’t buy them any more. I don’t have Alyssa’s apparent super human strength to get them in the middle part . BUT the locking disks did last a little longer.
The middle is also a great place to put peanut butter (I use a frosting squeezy thing) and or extra thick honest kitchen and then freeze. They enjoy getting their little tongues in all of the nooks and crannies. And treats inside are also great for letting the dog toss around the house.
