My puppy has had bloodshot eyes for about three days. I thought it would clear up but it hasn't. What could be some common causes and how should I treat it?

Dogs can get pink eye (conjunctivitis) just like humans. Eyes will be red and runny/goopy. This would necessitate a vet visit and your vet can prescribe an ointment that clears it up quickly.
Another thought: It's spring and all the stuff in the air can really irritate the eyes. So that might be another cause for the redness. You could try gently wiping his eyes with a warm washcloth and see if that helps. Otherwise, I'd probably have a vet check it.
Definately have a vet check it out. My coonhound mix recently scratched his cornea and after a few days of being a cone head, and antibiotic ointment he was just fine. Maybe, someone on this forum can help in what is the best way to put ointment into a dogs eyes. It was easy the first few times with Boda, but then he got wise and got really good a averting it.
