I have had my new puppy for about 1 week. he is now 9 weeks old and is doing very well with his house training "because the help of Ed's Video"
My Question is how do you teach the puppy to speak. I can't seem even in play to get him to bark. I know as soon as I teach him to speak I can teach him to speak to go outside.
I am telling him to speak everytime I open the door even though he is not "he does not know how!"
Hi,
I found a way with my puppy when he was 12 weeks old. He always barked at the vaccum so every time I turned the vaccum on, I said "Good Speak" for about one week. After that, I would make him sit and tell him to "speak" by offering a treat. After two weeks of this, he can now speak when I tell him to.. He mocks me though, because I think he knows Im deaf. So, he "mock" barks without using his voice and I found out MUCH later through my parents that he barked voiceless for the first few weeks. Now I can get him to bark with his voice!!! Little DEVIL!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />
I tease my pup w/ a treat or toy until he barks then I praise "good geblout" while giving him his treat/toy. Over time, the pup will learn the "speak" command.
It helps if the pup is tied to something when you tease him. It's more frustrating for the pup and should induce a bark faster than if he's jumping on you for a treat.
Mine was always excited at feeding time to get his food bowl. I teased him with it and frustrated him while saying 'Gib Laut'. When he made 'one' noise he got the food. It took no time and he started barking.
