Well, it isn't like Instinct was no-carb. They use tapioca instead of barley, etc.
If I wanted to feed kibble and was looking at that food, I'd consider variety. I'd consider getting one protein in Prairie and one (different one) in Instinct.
In fact, I do think that variety (either in a canned recipe of a different protein or in a different kibble) is one way to cover way more of the nutritional bases when feeding kibble.
It seems clear that eating one food forever, no matter how good it might be, cannot possibly supply all the micronutrients that are optimal. Also, providing different protein profiles can be an edge against allergies.
