Gee, I sure glad I came here because the replies are shockingly adamant - I need and appreciate that. I get the opposite from family and friends. I read all the link articles Connie - thank you so much.

I also searched hours each day for a vet leaning towards the holistic and even homeopathic approach of vet medicine. I found one man who sounded very nice, uses acupuncture. massage, and some other neat things with success but does not advertise such. He says he constantly travels to learn more and more and keep up to date. He was quiet and I think I am going there next. Let's just hope he doesn't argue too much about not giving any more shots! I am exhausted about this (calling all around). I meet more and more vets with attitude problems. Many won't even do emergency surgery unless you have proof of up to date shots. THAT IS SCARY!

No matter - you guys are wonderful to reply and I feel you gave me permission to go with my heart about this and not feel crazy anymore. Your time is valuable and I appreciate all you've written in response - seriously! I suppose I'll have to get rabies if they come around (legally). Is older the better for rabies?

With the problems you've already had, I would get a rabies vax exemption. If your old vet won't do it, get copies of the vet records so you have documentation of the problems your dog has had with vaccination. Then find a vet that will.

What state are you in?

Maybe someone on the forum lives near you and could give a recommendation.
