Sorry, I'm probably going to ask a lot of dumb questions for the next while As I mentioned on another thread, I'm to be getting a pug shortly. He's just a wee thing, even for a pug, almost 10 mths old and around 10 lbs. Originally the runt of the litter.
Here's my question. I can get a really small crate, and he'd fit...just. Which, as I understand it is a good thing...but I'm intending to feed him in his crate, probably from here to eternity, simply because I do have young children, and it makes sense to keep them out of the food. So, I guess the question is, is having a bigger crate to accomodate the food and water dish a bad idea? He's already house trained and crate trained at his present home.
Sorry for the dumb questions, but I've never bought a crate myself, and its been a good decade or so since I've had a dog that was crate trained Oh, another dumb question...if putting the food in first, how do you get the dishes out without taking the dog out? I'm thinking that if I put them in the back of the crate so he can go in, I'll have to take him out to get them...and if I put them just inside, won't he just stick his head in to eat?
I feel like such a doofus Honest, I'm not as dumb as these questions might make me seem, lol! I've realized since findng this site how bad I screwed up the training of my last dog, and want to make sure that I don't screw up like that again.
Since he's already crate trained you could go with a medium sized crate. You will need to take him out to potty after he eats so you could put the bowls at the back and take them out when he goes out to potty.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. Forget what I said about not being as dumb as the questions make me sound, because apparently I am, lmao! I'm going to bed before I forget to breathe or something
