In Belgium I have been unable to find the PetSmart type diapers. For this past month's heat cycle I was fortunate enough to have someone that grabbed a bunch of the diapers for me at PetSmart and brought them over from Florida. However, last time Lyka was in heat I used panties kinda like the ones pictured below. They use specially sized pads similar to those used by humans, and instead of replacing the whole "diaper" you just replace the pad. Wow what a pain in the butt those things were!! The pads don't cover everything 100% at 100% of the time, so if there is a shift in position then the panties get dirty, or the pads don't retain enough and ends up seeping through.
On the plus side, my bitch gets used to these things really easily. In the crate she usually manages to get them off, but around the house both diapers and the below panties stay put very nicely and she doesn't mess with them much at all, other than trying to lick herself and being unable to.
Perhaps using actual human pads would be better for leak-proofing, I dunno...
Every dogs reaction could be different, but out of curiousity how did your's take to wearing those?
Also, you say, "can be incontinent". Is she like my dog, in that this isn't an everyday problem, but often enough to have a solution on hand?
I ask because I'm trying to get a feel for how this progresses.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Mine did not care at all. The first couple time she looked behind to see what the heck I was stuffing her head through but that is it. My bitch sounds like yours. She has accidents occasionally and I will put it on at night so she does not mess bedding.
I don't know about diapers, but kuranda makes a bed that works for dogs that are incontinent when sleeping. If you order the bed with the vinyl weave fabric the urine seeps though into a tray. http://www.kuranda.com/catalog/index.php

Got the bed in today. This thing is freakin' nice! She loves it.
Incontinent or not, my dogs will always have one of these.
Thanks for the recommendation.
We have also been using some of the Petsmart type diapers with success. Wanted to try these 1st before I ordered any. Ingrid's recommendation will be our next pair now that I know she tolerates them well.
