those of you who don't vaccinate, how do you do training classes and or/events?
i have the chance to do flyball with sonny and maya, and neither are current on vaccines(nor will they be).

Mallory, I think each case can be a little different - have you inquired with this specific venue about whether they would accept titer results with a vet's explanation of the results/acceptable ranges? Titers can be pricey, especially if you have to titer for multiple things, but if you can have them done and prove that your dogs are otherwise vetted and very healthy, maybe you'd be able to pass as an exception?
Good question though... what are the specific vax that are required for your flyball venue? Technically, rabies is the only one that you LEGALLY must keep updated... at least in my state.

they want: rabies, distemper, parvo, bordatella, same as any kennel or doggy day care here.
rabies is the only shot that you must legally have just to have the dog, but if you want to board, do sports, have your dog around other dogs, it must have these other shots too.
so that would be titers for each one of these, for more that one dog????
i got lucky with my kennel, i started boarding with them back when all my dogs were current, they have not asked me for anything since.
i hate this, because if any person would actually look at a disease, they would see that me having non-vaccinated dogs in their venue would not hurt their other dogs, if anything, my OWN dogs would be at risk.
ANY dog, vaccinated or not can be a carrier of an illness, just because all the other dogs have tons of shots doesn't mean their facility is clean.....
imo, i should be allowed to have my dogs there if i sign something saying that i know all the risks, etc.....
but that won't happen.....

"Current on vaccinations" -- how do they define that? There is certainly no legal definition (except for rabies).
Even various vet offices vary widely on their recommended protocols. And so-called boosters are *really* changing, rapidly, from vet to vet.
I personally don't know a vet now who still does annual boosters, but a couple of years ago I knew only one who had switched from annual to every-three-years.
So what does "current" actually mean?

Mallory,
I have only competed in AKC agility and obedience, and NADAC agility, but neither of those venues require proof of vaccination when you are submitting an entry.
Some classes I have attended do require proof, and I'm not sure what I'm going to do about that myself with my next dog, which won't be vaccinated except for rabies.

most, if not all the vets here do annual boosters.
3 year rabies, everything else yearly.
my vet knows me, and knows that i just wont do that, so they don't push it.
but for the training club i am looking to join(for their flyball and possible agility classes, the best in the area), their definition of current is yearly shots.

That's their written requirement?
Or does the written requirement say just "current," and verbally they talk about annual boosters?

You may need to look around at other clubs, be prepared to drive a little further, and be a little creative in order to find a like-minded, no vaccine-required-club.
If you have holistic vets in your area, call them and see if they know of (or have clients who are members of) training clubs who don't care about vaccinations. If they have a bulletin board in their lobby put up a notice.
If you know of raw distributors or co-ops, contact them. I found 2 no-vaccine-required training groups through my raw distributor.
It's a long-shot, but you never know...

oh, their written says "current", but general vet practice says annual, as in, i am piling up postcards saying my dogs are due for their annual boosters.
around here, current means annual.....but i guess technically.....
and of course, i am that person, the one who lives off of technicalities....lol.
i think i wil try for the "don't ask, don't tell".....if they ask if i am current, i will smile and go "yes". if they leave it at that, then i just won't say anything......

that's just it, this club is the ONLY club in the area, everyone else is an individual trainer, and i would be on a team, which requires a club....
i have no car, so traveling more than an hour or so away becomes problamatic....
at least for now.
