I know nothing about John Yates or the American Sporting Dog Alliance.
John Yates is the director. They are acting as the "anti-HSUS/PETA movement", they want their rights as dog owners. They are hunters, (with sporting dogs) so they want to combat anti-hunters. Many of them are breeders, too.
I read a really crazy article lately, I'm not sure if it was from him (I can look it up), but it was comparing HSUS and the extremist animal-rights movement to Al Qaeda.

...Well, if the shoe fits...
I mean, there is documented proof that HSUS and PETA are buddies. And that PETA and ALF/ELF are buddies (although they try to keep this much quieter). And that ALF/ELF blow stuff up and set things on fire. If I'm not mistaken, ALF/ELF is considered the greatest native terrorist threat in the USA by the FBI or CIA...

I get annoyed when I see legislation concerning mandatory spay/neuter laws concerning dogs. I can't count the number of times I have wished there was mandatory spay/neuter laws for humans,
Then why not support it for dogs too? I think Dallas is on the right track.

Carla, did you actually look at summary of what was passed in Dallas?
Here, let me put it into quotes:
"In Dallas , City Council voted 10-3 to pass an animal control
ordinance requiring mandatory pet sterilization, expensive permits
to own intact dogs and cats, mandatory microchipping and pet
ownership limits. The ordinance also bans tethering of dogs and
imposes strict requirements for keeping dogs outdoors. Home
inspections also are authorized."
I followed the link to your horse site at http://www.bigskyfarm.com/ - are you on board for strict limits in the number of horses you can keep and breed? And mandatory sterilization? And you'd be fine with home inspections?
And you're ok with expensive permits for intact horses? And you'd be fine with strict requirements for keeping horses outdoors?
C'mon Carla, you seem to be just fine with nazi style tactics against sport dog owners, please tell me that you're be A-ok if it happens to horse owners.

Yep, definitely two paws up for government sticking its nose where it doesn't belong!
And ignoring all the OTHER REAL problems that they could do something about. I doubt spay/neuter laws rank high on the citizen's list of things that need to be fixed here in California.
