I was told by a local trainer that if I wanted to ppd train him when hes older, start with a good foundation. He told me to ask around at any clubs or persons w/exp in this. So my questions are ---What do I do to introduce my 6 mo old pup to this, (I cant afford the bite training vid right now lol), I have a long line and a rope/ball toy he will chase and retrieve, and he will tug on it, but I really have no idea what Im doing lol! Thanks!
First thing I'd do if I was interested in ppd from a dog I already owned would be getting an evaluation from someone well versed in that type of training to make sure the dog is a fit for that type of work. From there my trainer/evaluator would give me the road map..... For about the next (guessing here) 2 1/2 to 3 years. It's a very demanding discipline.
Other than that, the only thing I know is not to inhibit his biting at all. (I think!! lol)
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.
