I have noticed several times in the last 4 weeks or so, that immediately after having a BM, Kodee "nibbles" at his rear end, like it's itching or bothering him. He doesn't do it all the time, but enough that I've noticed. He used to NEVER do this. He doesn't act like he's in pain or anything, really, it's more like he itches there, and only briefly. However, I just wondered if this could be a sign of anal gland issues.
He never "scoots" anywhere (ugh - gross!), and he has 2 BM's a day like clockwork, and they are firm, but not hard. He eats Orijen Adult, and supplements w/THK Force and raw chicken.
Is this a sign of a problem, or just a new weird quirk?

Possibly the anal glands are full?
Scooting is a common sign but they can still be full even if there is no scooting, as I found out during a vet check with my dog. Even though my dog has firm, regular stools he still had full anal glands. Was a surprise to me.
An issue I had with THK is that, for whatever reason, if he didn't get significant exercise every day (like when I had the flu), the feces would rapidly lose moisture while awaiting exit in the colon. The THK would turn into hard little nuggets of pumice and woudln't pass past eachother.
He needed to have 2 different enemas to get it out. His anus got all irritated and chaffed from licking it and nibbling at it all night.
Something to keep in mind.
Here I thougth the THK would have a softening affect. Guess not.
