We have the tri-tronics bark limiter with a cinch collar on. The prongs are long, and the collar tighter than I feel comfortable with. Levels 1 and 2 didn't phase him in the crate or kennel. Level 3 will stop the crate barking. But in the kennel, he still barks his head off. So when he's in the kennel I bumped him up to level 4. Except it seems like level 4 is too much.
3 times (twice while I was at work, and one while at home), he puts himself into a cycle of shock - scream - which causes another shock, another scream, and the cycle continues until I rushed out and took it off. When I got close to the kennel, he settled down and stoped the cycle. But as I took the collar off, he did his usual greeting whine, and shocked himself, and thought I was the one hurting him. (actually, often when I take it off, he whines and shocks himself and thinks its me)
At both level 3 and 4, he will do this spinning, bark/yelp, like he's trying to get what ever is shocking him. This will last a few minutes if no one is outside, or 10 mins today when my brother was doing yard work.
Rob is such a baby. Even the softest scruff will cause a yelp, so I don't understand why levels 1 and 2 didn't work.
I'm wondering if he's too young to understand the bark collar. Any suggestions?
