William has had diarea for 4-5 days now, I have tried to give him pepto bismal and he won't take it. Have tried the following foods: Pumpkin, sweet potatoes, potatoes, white rice, plain yogurt, cottage cheese, chicken.
Does anyone have any other suggestions. He has been drinking water but not a lot, but he is peeing so I know he is not dehydreghted. Is there any other medicine that he would take that is for dogs?
His stool changes from liquid poo to very very loose not formed. A couple of times it looked like it was starting to form but the next time it was very loose again.
I am not giving him any meds because he won't eat it, I have not given him his dog food but have given him the rice w/ chicken, yogurt(plain) pumpkin ect...

I would fast the dog for a day (but plenty of fluid) after making a vet appointment.
I would offer and encourage baited water (water that you have simmered skinless white poultry in and then brought to tepid temp). I'd collect a poop sample in a baggie as close as possible to the vet appointment. If it was much before, like a day, I'd call and tell them that I was dropping off the fecal immediately.

If the vet appointment wasn't the next day, then after the 24-hour fast I would give nothing but very very mushy overcooked white rice (like gruel) for a meal or two, and then just a tiny bit of skinless white chicken added and poached in it.
Something I've found with my pup, is that heat (above 80 degrees) causes her to have loose and even watery stool.
It's a combo of the increased water consumption, combined with the stress of coping with the heat. Unfortunately, our house does not have A/C (it's not supposed to get hot in Western Washington, right?), and so she sometimes gets warm indoors, and she just cooks outside.
We moved her play time/walks to later in the day to avoid the high temps, and I go out of my way to make sure she stays cool- even if it means rubbing ice cubes on her belly.
Thank you all for your input, William seems to be fine today. I fed him plain mashed potatoes and pumpkin and a little plain yogurt and his stool is back to normal today.
