I have a 9yr old gsd/husky male. He has a WONDERFUL temperament, super submissive for humans, likes to chase birds/squirrels when allowed, listens off leash, gets a minimum 3/4 miles daily, food challenges, etc. He's well taken care of, well exercised, well loved. He eats innova and gets 2-3 raw bones per week.
The thing is, he LOVES to lick. He cleans himself normally (nothing too extreme, keeps his paws and privates clean). I do a lot of outdoor hiking for work, and obviously get sweaty. It started as "I'm soo happy you took me hiking, I love you" with just a few licks under the chin". It graduated to licking under my face/my chin then my arms, legs, anything in sight I assumed he liked to lick the sweat, but after a while if I let him, he would lick for a good 5 minutes. It's transferred to guests that come over, specifically males. He LOVES to lick them under their chins (cologne area and submissive behavior I presumed)
Is this normal? Should I worry about it? I usually correct the behavior because I'm unsure if it's healthy or not.
