I am trying to advocate for over 250 dogs, mostly, breed specific with a few other breeds, but mainly, GSD.
There is an awful situation going on in Texas. The Texas SPCA is afraid to take it on. They were sued by this particular place due to another issue, so they are pretty leary of taking this on. There are many of us, who know about this, but the principal, to the rescue, is an attorney, and will sue. I have spoken to the regional office of SPCA and they are aware, but do not have deep enough pockets to take this on. They would LOVE to see something done.
So the project I am trying to put together is to advocate for changes to be made. At first, I wanted it closed down, but after thinking about it, staffing changes and reduction of numbers, would be ok. I do not want to take away, the honor, that this particular rescue started for.
Sometimes, things can just get out of hand, and if the party is willing to make corrections, and be monitored, to ensure, the changes are enforced, would be better than the dogs having one less place to be.
Yes, they have food, water and medical care. The only social interaction, is at feeding time, or as they watch the staff, walk by. The dogs live outside in the runs, with other dogs, in the Texas heat and cold. There is no misting system, no baby pools, and no way to cool off.
There are said to be now, 4 staff members, to walk, groom and care for over 250 dogs. You do the math, that is about 60 dogs, per one person.
The dogs probably dont get walked once every 4 months, unless someone takes them out to look at adopting them.No telling when they were brushed. It is a hellish nightmare for the dogs.
They live in runs, with several other dogs, peeing and pooping in the runs, and the staff, power washes the runs down. Dogs are reverting back to pack mentality, and fights break out.
There are NO fosters or volunteers, due to the ego centric Kennel Master who runs the place. This particular person, runs everyone off. For some reason, this person, is so full of themselves, they think they are doing something really big, by caring for this many dogs, by themselves. There were only TWO staff members when I was there. I hear, there are four.
I am trying to gather support. I want people who have DIRECT knowledge of this facility, (who shall remain nameless at this time) due to legal liability. I, of course have no money to hire attorney, should I get sued,so I must tread lightly, until I have the support I need.
Just like the support that Congo, received, I need the same, for over 250 dogs, but this is my first attempt at advocating, and taking on such a monumental task, one, that others are afraid to take on.
Now why, would one little person, have such a burden in their heart, for this situation?? I have heard, that it only takes one person, to make a change, so I am going to leap in and see if I can help these dogs. It breaks my heart to see this, and I do not believe any 25 people, who would know how dogs are supposed to be cared for, would approve of leaving dogs like that, let alone want to leave your dog there, knowing the circumstances. I think , if you saw, what I saw, and being members of this forum, you would be HORRIFIED.
Any advice, first hand knowledge, or help from someone more knowledgeable, or with a direct conection, to someone who can actually help these dogs, would be appreciated.
I am asking the knowledgeable, and wonderful members of this forum to assist me, with support, information to help obtain a change in the situation of these dogs.
For anyone who can assist, or has direct knowledge and is willing to step forward and help, please pm me. If you have been to this facility, you will know, who I am speaking of, it is located just south of Dallas, Tx. Due to liability on public forun, this must remain nameless at this time.
I wait to hear from you. Thank you
