Ok so we have picked up bruisers training quite a bit.
So I was wondering how long will it take him to do a command without a treat.
He has learned sit very well.
But I have always made him do it with a treat in my hand.
I tried today a without a treat he acted like he did not know what I was talking about.
Like I said befor his food drive is out of this world. He would do anything for food.
Now he learned in the past few days.
Lay
Dance
Paw which is high five.
We are working on no bark.
And his stay leaves something to be desired. But we are working on that to.
He is 6 months old has know come from almost day one.
I use instinced dog food for his treats.
I can tell he is smart very smart picks up on things in one or two trys. And will figure out the commands. If he is not sure.
He is also antisapating the commands now I watched the DVD 8 weeks to 8 Months and ED said they will do it.
I ws going to order the DVD basic obiedents and family pack structure but have not had the money yet.
But will be asap when we have the extra money.
So my main question is how long befor he will do it without a treat everytime.
I am not sure I have looked into clicker training but I am just training to build his confidents through training and I want a well rounded dog.
They do have a release command go on. From the sit stay or waiting at the door.
I did read the article you gave me on marker training but it was hard to understand. So I kinda understand.
So if you could explain it differently but also what does the clicker do if you weed it out over time. I have a clicker at the house. If I should start I will
You do not have to use the clicker as your marker. Just be consistant with what you use.
With my dogs I start with the clicker or the word "yes". At first my big mistake was sometimes saying yesss and sometimes saying good boy. I still catch myself mixing the two and can noticeably see the excitment with the right word.
Also you JUST started ramping up the training. I think lots and lots (me included) expect too much too soon.
REPEAT AND REPEAT and consistancy. Do not worry about a timetable
