Hello,
I have an 8 year old, spayed, female Corgi who marks like a male dog in our yard, and out on walks. She will always urinate over the spot that our male shepherd has just urinated and she will do the same to fire hydrants etc. on walks.
She usually lifts both her backlegs (so only her front feet are touching the ground, which is funny to see in a dog as long as a corgi) or just one leg. She never goes to the bathroom like a female dog.I don't believe this occured before she was spayed at around 3 yrs old.
I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it was hormonal or behaviourally based.

Yep. A neighbor's female is having a marking "war" with my dog in one spot in my yard. Shadow will lift one rear leg and sort of balance on her front legs. It's really odd looking.
I've seen a friends Chihuahua female balance on both front feet to mark a spot on the ground (very funny). I have a Min Pin and a couple of Beagle females who lift one leg to mark vertical surfaces.
Your Corgi isn't long, she just has short legs.
My female minpin does this, too. She's spayed and a bossy little heifer to our little male, who is also neutered (both rescues). She does what I call a tripod squat.
Too funny, or two females are peeing the entire time we walk our parimeter here on the farm and kane( a year old now just keeps walking with us) .I thought my dogs were abnormal too.
