i've just ordered the basic dog obedience dvd from leerburg, but i think i should get pack structure also beecause...
i have a 6.5 mnth old gsd, i have done some basic training with him but i am a novice trainer, this is my first dog.
when we alone he seems to be very obedient, but on walks he pulls and and barks at other dogs and the worst is when he sees a soccer ball i find it very hard to control him.
he hurt a boy the other day jumoing for a ball.
Based on what you describe, I would agree and also recommend Leerburg's Puppy DVD 8 weeks to 8 months so that you can set a good foundation. Also, you probably have done this, but scour his free articles (eBooks) and you will find lots of great insight. There are articles specifically addressing some of your stated issues as they are pretty common mistakes that handlers (esp new handlers) make.
Your puppy is demonstrating pack behavior (challenging pack structure, or even thinking he needs to be the leader given the behavior you note). Also, you need to slowly progress through the stages of learning - he's too young to be able to mind with such high level of distraction. The error is yours as you seem to recognize so kudos to you for seeking out this website.
