I also just came across a few lesions near the top of my pup's head. Came across them this morning as I was scratching her head and felt rough bumps. I pulled the hair back and saw these. There are about five of them along the base of her skull. At first I thought they were spider bites, which she had on her belly at one time just like in Sarah Morris' post; however, these look different and they flake. I have a vet appointment set up tomorrow morning, but was wondering if anybody had any guesses. They do not seem to bother her (i.e., no itching, head shaking, etc.).
Yes, they are hard. Some of them are not red, but it may be they have scabbed over. The large one that is not covered with hair is dark red. They really just look like protruding scabs. At first I thought ringworm, but I only have seen ringworm in cats and they do not quite look the same.

Well, they don't look like basal cell tumors that I have seen. Could be cysts or any number or other things. I'd do what you are doing and get them looked at, but I probably would not lose sleep tonight.
