because i fitted this womans GSD with a prong collar, correctly.
this was last week, she comes in the store today, screaming about how it is too tight.
she was literally making a scene, because the prong doesn't come with a dvd or instructions or anything(even though i swear i spent almost an hour with her and her dog on this), and it is too tight.
BUT, "oh, it was working. it worked great. but all my neighbors say it is too tight, and i am hurting her. "
apparently, she has since added so many links, she can slip it over the dogs head, and is now complaining that it isn't as effective.....
the dog is now uncontrolable, again.
when it was in the store (the day i fitted her),she was panting so hard, whining, and she couldn't sit still, she was a basket of nerves, and i watched in complete horror as the owner told a 7 year old that he could pet the dog, and the dog BIT HIM. in the store, this was last week.
i get a prong on her, she behaves, but because idiot owner thinks it's too tight, she went messing with it, and now she has lost control of the dog again....
Wow, you're lucky to even get a prong collar on a dog. At my place if I recommend it I get a horrified look like I just told them to kick their dog in the head.
i am , literally the ONLY person who knows about prongs at work. I overheard a co-worker RECOMMENDING you be able to slip the prong over their head to get it on and off....
that same worker told a person that their 75-80lb GSD could and should be wearing the small size prong, with 4 extra links added so it fit around.
other people just come find me. But yeah, i do get some horrified looks..."that mean looking thing there?"
but this dog was a wreck. it broke my heart, i was in the back when boss came to get me to fit the collar, and i could hear the dog from where i was wimpering, crying, pacing. after they were checking out, i heard her talking about how her dog should have been a K9....i almost crapped my pants...
i wish each prong manufacturer sent ed's prong article out with their collars....something.
I also hesitate to recommend the prongs at my store because they are total pieces of crap. The prongs themselves aren't rounded off, they're cut straight and rough. Oh well, at least I'm not the one scaring all the customers away from e-collars because they "cause neurological damage." *shakes head*
