Hello, I know this is my first post but i need some help.
I purchased a rescue Rottweiler that was taken back from the breeder from the original owner. Wylie is going to be 6 months old at the end of this month. Problem I am having is It seems his confidence has been broken down, He drops his head down when you go to pet him, once you pet him he is fine. Almost seems like the previous owner might of struck him in the head area. I am trying to come up with a way to bring his confidence back up. Any one have any ideas? I am afraid that he might of lost his drive due to the neglect that he received in his younger months. Is there any way to get him back to the way he should be? Im open for recommendations.
Thank you in advance
Ron

I'd refrain from touching his head and from looming/standing over him. I'd start short upbeat marker training sessions with extremely good (but tiny) rewards.
I'd start with just loading the marker, and move to very simple behaviors like eye contact.
I'd skip corrections and stick with all positive motivational (marker) training to work on his confidence. I'd think about ways to set him up for success.
I'd do this in short sessions throughout the day and keep the rewards excellent and my voice and demeanor upbeat but calm.
