Hi!
Thanks to everyone for your advice...I found a pet health food store just up the interstate, and found just about every brand mentioned. Amie is now on her way to being a heathier dog (and I even bought her kitten better food too), now if I can get used to her fish breath. . . :-)

Just thought I'd chime in - I went through the same allergy thing as you are with my golden. I got a lot of great advice on this forum that helped so much. I tried a zillion different foods and it didn't make any difference at all. We did make the switch to raw about 7 months ago and he so healthy - great teeth, coat, etc.. I was afraid to do it too, but after the great coaching I got here, it was easy and now it's just second nature!
But anyway, we ended up going to a dermatology vet about 2 months ago and it was the best money I ever spent on a dog! They are so knowledgeable that they pretty much know what is going on in the first 5 minutes! It's such a relief to have help. She said Kasey had environmental/inhallent allergies and so we did the skin testing - he was tested for 75 different allergens specific to this area, and he tested allergic to 43 of them! He itched all the time, and like your dog, there really wasn't much in the way of rash, redness or anything on the skin. He started doing this young - about 9 months old (he's now 2 yrs). So we are doing allergy shots.
I write just to encourage you, that if you do all the things Connie and others have suggested and he is still itching, I really recommend a dermo vet - it is such a big weight lifted off your shoulders when you get answers and don't have to keep trying new things and guessing all the time!! - especially when it doesn't help!
