We found a real nice one on the side of the road, outside a big, rich house. Asked the guy how much we could give him for it, he said take it, but the track is broken. My s.o. (handyman that he is) fixed it up, and it works perfectly! I'd suggest Craigslist or moving sales. The treadmill is a grest idea! We love it because we put him (or we did, before his physical issues) on it in the morning for 20min before we went to work, then he'd be a little calmer for the day. Then a good walk when we got home from work. It's a great energy burner.
Denise: I live in LA. I won't even get on a bike myself in the city because people cannot drive. I really wish I could as I do like to bike ride and I know Pele would love it, but it is just not an option here.
I wanted to get a regular treadmill but since I live in an apartment it is just too big and would basically take up all the room in my second bedroom. I know they have doggy treadmills but the ones I have seen are like $1,000 or close to it (you would think that being smaller would cost less). I am just hoping there is a more affordable option to getting her more exersise.
Just an update - got a treadmill for $75 used so now just need to train her to use it. So far she is doing good on it, put her on in the mornings before work and she will walk on it for the most part....still going to take her some time to get use to it.
She is never going back to that day care place again and we have found another boarding place that does cage the dogs and takes them in an inclosed area 2-3 times a day to run around and play (and areas where they can play together with other dogs or if they are not dog friendly they have a place for them to streach their legs alone).
As far as walking goes Pele seems to be doing better. Only if the crazy dogs get close to her does she get worked up (cannot be avoided sometimes like turning a corner and they are there).
Thanks again for all the advice....I greatly appriciate it.
