Connie, no I am not. I talked to the County Police Department in regards to civilian employment but they did not think they had such a need. I am going to try talking to their HR department. I am also going to give the ATF a call this week and try to speak with them.
I am a pilot by trade and have been flying since 14, Commercially since 18 and then for Trans World Airlines since 25. Needless to say the industry has taken a major turn for the worse with mergers and concessionary contracts. This is an entire topic within itself. But when I was getting out of college I wanted to join the Coast Guard (lower vision requirements) and if they would have guaranteed me a pilot slot I would have signed on the line that same day. The same thing is with law enforcement, they will not guarantee a K9 spot after may probation/grace employment period. As I get older the time does not lean in my favor. I am not trying to "take the easy way" or "have it handed to me", but rather not have the ordeal that I am currently going through.... having a career that makes me sick every time I think of it. It was not at all rewarding and now middle aged I do not want to jump into something with yet another carrot on an end of stick.
Sorry for waring my heart one sleeve right now, but I figure I would give you a little background since you're asking me questions and tying to help.
