I need to get a better handle on training my puppy. I'm going to order several dvds from Leerburg. Meanwhile, I need to figure out suitable treats for Ha-nul. He eats Royal Canin Digestive Low Fat food. Since he's been on that his stools have been much better. I gave him raw chicken once (because my dog loves it) and the result was not pretty!
Anyone else with dogs or puppies with similiar digestive problems? What do you give for treats?
Also, can anyone suitable low-salt treats? My dog's right ventricle is slightly larger than the left. Not enough at this stage to warrant medication but I want to be careful in what she eats.

1. What is the diagnosis that prompted that food?
2. Tiny bits of cooked skinless white poultry (any visible fat removed first) are excellent training treats. No salt added, very low fat, high-quality protein.
One chicken breast = a hundred treats. Freeze some and replenish your reward supply as needed.
Hanul's stools were always very very soft and sometimes it was diarrhea. I adopted him at approximate two months old from a city dog shelter managaed by a vet (the kind of vet who gave basic - even basic is glorifying the treatment - to sick dogs and let them die of their own accord, but I suppose that's neither here nor there *unhappy face*). Hanul got distemper approximately a month after I adopted him. My vet and I were quite worried about him for a couple of days. Anyway, his health is a lot better.
Hanul has been on the Royal Canin Low Fat Digestive food for about a month and his stools are a lot better. Consistent in shape, form (same thing?) and texture. I don't have a bag lable with me at the moment, but from memory the food is low in fat and fibre. I'm not sure what kinds of things upset Hanul's tummy. One time when he was staying at the vet's boarding facility, the vet gave him some sausage (he said sausage but I don't know what exactly it was, the vet speaks good English but not perfect - I live in Korea) and Hanul had diarrhea.
I'm loath to buy treats willy nilly because of the cost and the cost of shipping. It would be nice to give something else other than chicken breast. Any other ideas?
And yes, I've been thinking about asking the vet to do some tests on Hanul to see if we can get some more detailed ideas as to what his digestive problem is.
