Dino appears in the 3rd generation of the sire's side of the pedigree and the 3rd generation of the dam's also.
left side of the hyphen is the generation the dog appears in on the sire's side (top half) and the right side of the hyphen is the dam's site (bottom half).
So a dog bred 3,4,4-3,4 on Dino, will appear once in the 3rd generation of the sire's side, twice in the 4th generation of the sire's side, once on the dam's 3rd generation and once on the dam's 4th generation.
Exactly, that's why it is very important to have personal knowledge of, or at least very reliable 2nd hand info on, that dog before gettig a pup or doing a breeding.

ok, that makes sense. One thing though, unless you know (as in your example) the traits of Dino this info does not necessarily mean too much.
Thanks.
Exactly right! When you linebreed you increase your chances of obtaining the genetic material of that dog, both the good and the bad. Dino produced several dogs that competed rather well.
It is only one part of the pedigree and you take it in consideration with the other dogs in the pedigree and with the sire of any future breedings.
Raya has a very nice pedigree. But since I am her owner I *may* be a bit biased.

Linebreeding discussions always interest me, well any bloodline type thread does so imagine my surprise (and a bit of paranoia :eek when I clicked on the thread and my dog jumped out at me!
