Just goes to show again, vets don't always know what they are talking about.
I will admit, AvoDerm factors into my erroneous belief that only the avocado skin is toxic.
Years ago I had a boxer with skin issues (probably allergies, in hindsight), and the vet recommended AvoDerm, assuring me that avocado meat wasn't toxic.
I'm glad my little boxer was lucky. I hate to think all that time I was poisoning her, at my vets advice. (Of course, this vet also sold Science Diet, and vaccinated the hell out of the dog... who died of cancer at 8 years).
Just goes to show again, vets don't always know what they are talking about.
Ain't that the truth<g>. I've run things just like this past various vets over the years, and while I respect them for what they're good at (trauma!), I tend to look elsewhere for a lot of this information.
And, my GSD has eaten her share of raisins, grapes, and yes, avocado slices over the years, thankfully, with no ill effect. She doesn't get them any longer, now that I know better, something about which she definitely is not happy<g>.
