So we went to the vet for Jake and Dixon to get checkups Friday afternoon. What an adventure!!
First, they had a whole bunch of walk-ins & people picking up there dogs from boarding come in all at once so it was very busy.
A woman came in with a female pit who looked like she'd just had puppies. She also brought 5 little kids with her, two of whom thought my dogs were going to eat their dog (no idea where that came from as mine were sitting calmly between my bf and I) and the other three which came at us arms outstretched until I put my hand out and calmly said STOP. I apologized and told them they were too small to pet my guys... The pit then turned and started growling at us, and when Dixon and Jake started to get antsy the woman very nicely offered to take everyone outside.
Then a woman comes in with a really cute but kind of overweight bulldog. I had no idea the breathing problems those poor guys had! He snorted and coughed quite a bit. We were all able to sit fairly calmly in the waiting room together- his owner was very nice and we all chatted... Then come in two people each with a dog. Another guy with a puppy in a carrier.
Then I see this woman come in with a "snake-farm" t-shirt on and go into an exam room (http://www.exoticanimalworld.com/index.asp ). I have no proof that she was in any way affiliated with the place, but when she came back out she had two HUGE WHITE WOLVES with her!!!
We asked the vet about them when it was our turn (we were trying to guess how much they weighed) and she confirmed that one was supposed to be 'pure' and one 'part'. 85 ish and 110 lbs. Wow. I have to say they were GORGEOUS. Apparently one was sick and they brought them in for a follow up exam, lol.
I have to say after seeing them from across the waiting room, I can't imagine wanting to keep those guys in or at your home. I think I would be afraid that one morning they'd wake up and decide to have me for breakfast, lol-- just joking. Seriously though they were very well behaved for the 30 seconds we saw them, and the vet said the same for her experiences. They were just big and obviously not dogs.
Anyway- that's the craziest trip to the vet we've ever had. The best part was that my guys passed with flying colors .

One of our clients had a mostly wolf-hybrid. Beautiful dog but a little scary to deal with. His owner found it amusing we were all a little cautious around this dog but you know, you're thinking "Wild animal...not something you want to mess with or irritate."
After this dog passed away he got another wolf-hybrid...this one a pup. Most adorable thing and so cool looking but even in such a young pup you could see those undomesticated traits lurking behind his eyes.

I often have to bite my tongue while at work. Recently a guy probably in his 20s brought his wolf hybrid pup in along with his two kids one still in a stroller and the other no more than 4.
He proudly told me his dog was 75% wolf and I just replied that wolf hybrids are illegal in this county without a zoo license , that he needed to be careful and never bring it into our store again. When he said he'd just tell people it was a dog I just replied that they have genetic tests for these things now good luck with that one should animal control insist it's a wolf.
I love my job but this kind of thing where you have to tolerate people's stupidity has to be the most mind altering, climb the clock tower madness that no one should have to deal with.

That's what's great about this country - we can vote for whoever we want.
Oh, wait. . . you weren't talking about the election?
