I am so angry right now, and the only thing I can do is ask people to please refuse to do business with the shoe store called "Journeys". I don't know what states that have stores in, but there is one at a nearby mall here in Kansas (Oak Park Mall) in Overland Park. Tonight on the news, they featured a story about a young African-American man who returned a new pair of shoes to their store, as he found the same pair cheaper at another store. (Smart guy, right?). They refunded his money and gave him a return receipt. When he got home, he was looking at the receipt, and they had typed into the computer "Cust. name: Dumb n---er."
If I hadn't seen the picture of the receipt (printed by a computer) on the news, I would not believe it. I have contacted the company and told them I would no longer be spending my money there, and I urge you to do the same. Their website address is: http://www.journeys.com/help_contact.aspx
Thanks for reading this. I really wish this world was a better place for my 3 little ones to grow up in. People just shock the h_ll out of me sometimes
Nice idea Kori, however you know how that goes. if you stop going it will surely not hurt their income but at least YOU made a stand against the idiot.
A company can't be held responsible for the idiocy of some employees, especially a chain like that.
I agree Mike. A statement from the company that was in the article:
"While we are continuing to investigate this incident, it now appears that an employee in one of our stores entered highly inappropriate statements in a form used to process a merchandise return. Needless to say, such an act was not authorized by Journeys, and will not be tolerated. This employee has been terminated.
"At Journeys, we pride ourselves on valuing and respecting every customer. We are shocked and sickened that a former associate could be responsible for an act so out of keeping with our culture and our values. We profoundly regret this incident."
Hopefully the company will revaluate their hiring practices to hopefully prevent hiring such hateful idiots in the future.
Yes, boycotting NO. Over-reacting. Obviously the employee is the one at fault here. Not the company. They took swift action and fired the idiot promptly. I could pull the company in on this as well if they refused to take action - but they did.
i agree jason when the company found out. they took actuion and terminated the person responsible. i never shop there anyways because all their prices are too high but i wouldnt boycot the store. just my opinion.
