.... In the mail today, my wife and I received a print of the "Rainbow Bridge" poem from Ed and Leerburg. ... Things like this really help to heal wounds. ... This really shows who Ed, Cindy, and everyone at Leerburg are. Very, very cool folks. Thanks a ton. Means a whole lot to us.

Michael and Ashley,
I just now, just read this very sad news. My heart is so sad for you both, and I have tears reading this now.
My very deepest sympathy to you both for your profound loss of Domino.
My heart goes out to you, please know you are in my thoughts and prayers!
Please take care,
It is starting to get easier. My wife misses her a lot, as do I. We still have those moments where you realize she isn't there. Like the other night I walked Turbo in the front yard. I have been walking him in the back since she has been gone. No reason, I just have.
Well, I never knew how much time Domino and I spent together on that last stroll through the yard before bed. I would always sit down on the driveway while Turbo was goofin' off, and she would automatically trot over to me and I'd love on her. I didn't know how often we did that until she wasn't there anymore.
The hardest part for Ashley and I is trying to not feel guilty for getting over it. You almost don't want to forget how bad it hurt the day she left us.
Memories from that day are beginning to fade and are being replaced with good memories. Fun memories of things she use to do.
We also found some old photos of her as a puppy, and in that 6 month old goofy, long legged, awkward stage. Those were really fun to see.
Thanks again to everybody for your words of encouragement.

I remember this feeling all too well from when we lost our beloved GSD, Jutta, years ago. But while the pain of the loss may fade, you will always remember her spirit and the joy she brought to your life. When we were driving the body of our Jutta to my parent's house to bury her, the Tom Petty song "Wildflowers" came on the radio, and it automatically became her song. Whenever I hear that song all the feelings from that day return, along with a rush of tears. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.
