I am hoping to find a certified dog trainer in Rhode Island who uses the methods I read about here. I have a 4 year old shep/lab mix. I have done a fair amount of training but she has her own mind when we are at a park. I am trying the prong collar which works with heel and sit. I really just want her to be able to 'come' in a park area and I think I would benefit from a trainer. Thank you.
I can't help you with a trainer, but your post got me thinking that since you are having such success with the prong collar for sit and heel, you might do very well with Ed's video "E-collar Training for the Pet Owner". The section of that video on recall training is brilliant, and you don't even need an e-collar to follow Ed's example since he starts with a prong collar on a long line and eventually goes to e-collar stimulation in the place of a prong/line correction.
