I am trying to understanding how rear angulation is measured in GSDs. The standards (whether Us or SV) say it is the distance (in degrees) between the upper and lower thigh. But depending on the "stack" the angulation and topline slope of the dog various greatly depending on the position of the hock from the body and the distance of the upper thigh from the pelvis. So my question is, is the dog standing in a "natural" stance with the hock close to the body when measuring rear angulation or is it measured while in the show "stack"? The show stack greatly affects the appearance of the dog and slope of the topline even if the distance from the upper and lower thigh bones are kept at a fixed distance of say 90 degrees?
