I train in Schutzhund, but have always trained older dogs, never started one off from a pup. I am keeping a female back out of my current litter and plan on getting building drive and focus since alot of people I know who are using it, swear by it, plus I've met Bernard and just by watching him help our club members out was really impressed by what I saw. My question is what other videos would help? Already have first steps of bite training (but that's not until older). Guess I need to get bite training for puppies? When do you go onto Preparing the dog for the helper from Bernard? Missing anything else? Gees, nothing like a puppy to make you feel stupid! Adults are easier, lol.
I would start with Drive, Focus and Grip (with Bernhard)and also Preparing the Dog for the Helper...start with those two that you already mentioned and go from there. I asked Ed and he said Training a Competition Tracking Dog would also be recommended.
I am now training an adult dog, and I have always started with puppies before. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> For me, puppies are easier because they don't know anything! lol Trying to figure out how to redo something an adult has already been taught (for me) is more challenging than starting with a clean slate....Have fun with your puppy!!
