You are correct...I was assuming she has allergies because the three mitaban dips did not work, however, I have learned that this is common and sometimes they don't work at all, even after a series of 6 or more. What I do know is she had a skin scraping and she has demodex mange. I need to control that problem before assuming she has additional skin issues and or allergies...what I have learned in my search for another solution besides mitaban dips has been priceless...raw diet, the Leerburg site, this forum. I'm off to try the Borox/Peroxide/H2O dip! Thanks to all for your advice!

I just wanted to add that we saw a dermo vet for allergies in our golden this past summer. I went through all the food allergy elimination diet stuff before going to the dermo vet and boy was it a pain! I wish I would have gone to the dermo vet first! Connie is so right in the fact that food allergies should be the last thing suspected in an allergy dog. I think regular vets like to go with food allergies because they are the easiest thing for them to eliminate - they just stick the dog on some 'hypoallergenic' kibble.
But the dermo vets know certain signs that help identify different allergies - i.e. where on the body is the dog scratching and having skin problems, is it seasonal, are there digestive problems also, etc. When a dog is truly food allergic, they usually have problems with digestive stuff too. So IMO, if a dog is pronounced 'allergic', save yourself time and money and head straight for the dermo vet! I could have saved us a lot heartache and wasted money!
