hello everyone,
i just recently switched my 6 month old gsd pup to the natural raw diet. i am feeding him chicken neck and back with some beef and veggies that i shredded up in the blender. i was just curious what do others feed a dog this age? how do you prepare your vegies? what kind of meat and how much do you feed a day?
yes i have seen the article from leerburg and thats what has inspired me to make the switch. I was just curious about what other people feeding the raw diet were feeding there young puppys of the same age. I gave my pup a raw chicken liver but that had upset his stomach. He seems to be doing good with the chicken neck and back. He doesnt eat all the veggies tho so i was wondering how people were preparing there vegies. I just purchased a few health care products from the site today actually so i gotta wait a couple days to start that part of the diet.
For my picky veggie eater I put them in the food processor with some hamburger meat and yogurt then feed him the whole glop together, he will pick out any chopped or whole veggies and if its just veggie mush he won't touch it.
the only raw veggies he will eat are those tiny little pumpkins,(I recently found that out by accident) and carrots as a "chewy"
Mine have the occasional nibble of banana, and blueberries and cranberries mixed into their food every so often, other than that they won't eat much fruit. Cored apples make a god chewy from time to time as well, but too much can cause the runs.
Oh they do like watermelon, but there is rarely any left to give them!
AS far as veggies two of mine are BIG fans of sweet potatoes, canned green beans (no salt added), carrots, and leafy greens. The husky doesn't really like food all that much, other than meat and yogurt...he is a picky picky eater.
