Lucy Kostelny Webboard User Reg: 07-22-2008 Posts: 48 Loc: Camp Zama, Japan Offline	I have a 6 month old Golden and I was just wondering when to expect her to go into heat. I read that it depends a lot on when they were born but I'm not sure. She was born on March 27th 2008. I'm not planning on breeding her so I want to get her spayed but the Vet that I take her too has a really long wait (its a military vet clinic). I talked to them and its going to be another 6 months before they can get her in. I am just dreading her being in heat because there are a lot of dogs running around here and she loves to play outside. Does anyone know know the approximate time line for this??

The hormones that accompany the heat cycle can be crucial in telling the dog's bones to stop growing, and assist in preventing joint problems. The heat cycle isn't very long, you'll just have to keep her on a leash out-doors for a week or two.
