okay, we didn't get that much snow, but enough that neb has now gotten to play in the snow, not just sniff at a dusting. neb's first snow!!!! yay!!!
he didn't seem all that enthused last night, but luc loves the snow, so neb started to get into it. toby and i had a snowball fight, and neb thought that was exciting
and luc started chasing snowballs, and sort of grabbing them out of mid-air. we stopped the snowball fight to lob them for him, it's so nice to see him getting into playing other than just tag. it'll sound funny, since he's the older dog, but he's been watching neb, and copying him a bit. thanks to help on here i've gotten him to start playing a little bit with toys inside, not a lot, but a 200% improvement from before. anyways, it was really cool, i have been working to get luc to chase balls forever. now we just need to transfer his new-found game to balls made out of things other than snow!
I'm loving it! We have just enough to make everything look clean and pretty, but I'll take it. I dug out the warm coats and the paw-wax and off we went. I'm loving it because the colder it gets, the fewer the people out and about when I'm working with Murph. He always ends up with a white, snow-covered nose because he's so into sniffing the ground, and it's adorable. He seems to get really into playing in it too.
I'm sure by mid-January I'll be grumbling, but for now: Yippee!
Monday night was clear and dry, with a few leaves fluttering around on the grass.
Tuesday morning I woke up to a foot of snow.
The dogs were ecstatic. Me, not so much (I had to shovel my driveway for 2.5 hours).
I have one male who will walk backwards in front of me and stare at my feet as I walk through the snow. He loves to catch the little snow balls that I kick up as I walk. I have to be careful that I don't kick him in the face, LOL. I can't walk anywhere outside if there is snow on the ground and he's out with me. If I kick a footfull of snow up, he will just fly through the air snapping at it. He never knows when snow will come flying off my feet. Maybe Luc will like this game too (the dog in question is NOT a toy driven dog and rarely plays with toys).
We didn't get nearly that much. I hope we get more soon though - we trampled through a lot of the yard last night running around and throwing snowballs.
Yup, Luc was jumping up and snapping at snowballs, running all over the place. It was great to watch. I'll try the snowkick too. Neb was getting into at the end, he was all 'we're chasing something? WHOOO!'
They really love it when it's deep and they have to jump through it and wade through it.
Kristel, I agree. Didn't see a single other dog on our walks last night. It was nice, though Teagan does need exposure to keep practicing.
Oh! And Tuesday night on our walk (about 1k in) I found 2 car tires....way more convenient than taking Toby's summer tires in and out of the garage (he'll use them again so I can't leave them in the yard). I may have looked odd walking down the street with Teagan and a tire on either arm. Neb thinks they're neat though
