Connie, when I first bought the oil it stayed in the garage most of the summer. When I finally opened it I put it in the fridge. Do I need to replace? The bottle only has a few pumps out of it. If I was to buy the oil at a pet store locally what should I look for to get the same quality? Thanks for the advice. Ron
Where do you buy the gel caps and what brand? I think I will try them as I tried again with the oil and he refused to eat and I know that he is hungry. Thanks Ron
I buy the Omega 3 Fish Oil gel caps from Sams Club, the Members Mark brand. 1000 mg per gel, 400 softgels in the bottle. I think I paid around $8.00. I keep the gels in the refrigerator.
I just put the softgel in their food and all 4 dogs eat them no problem. I can even just feed them one with no food. They love the taste. I see from reading this post that I need to up their dosage though.
I saw in a pet wholesale magazine that they now have treats made especially for feeding pills.I think their called pill pockets?
Thanks, I bought the ones from Sam's and he will eat them out of my hand. 3 per day w/Vit E. When do I up the dosage of the vit E. Also the Sams brand does not contain any Omega 6, is that a concern?

Great!
Give E gelcap along with it.
You don't want to supplement 6s, which are over-plentiful in almost all diets.
For example, poultry is rich in 6s.
It's 3s, and particularly long-chain 3s, such as in marine sources, that are badly under-represented in modern diets (human and canine).
You could up the dosage to 400 IU when he gets about 60-70 lbs.
Now when he gets 100+ to full grown.....post back because I'm not absolutely sure about a dog that big. I *think* it will be 600-800 IU. I would rather someone else confirm that, though.
