Hi everyone, first of all Ed your site is great it has helped me a lot, as I live in Trinidad, Caribbean and it is difficult to get books and videos on puppy rearing.
I have a three (3) month old GSD who I only got about 10 days ago, and she eats her poop.
I am in the process of housetraining her, and she goes outside sometimes when I'm home (on weekends), but I leave for work at 5am and and return home at 6pm, so during the day she's inside and she has a spot in my bathroom that she goes poop.
I have noticed that there are poop marks when I get home sometimes or in the morning when I get up, but no poop.
I was told that maybe its because she's hungry, so I left food and water for her last night, and this morning she poops and pees in different places, as well as her regular spot
Do you have any ideas to get her to stop eating the poop?, and
Should I leave food down for her, or feed her three times a day as I usually do.
My dad will put food for her at lunchtime, but that's all he will contribute, he doesn't like dogs.
Thanks Roxanne

Unfortunately, most people don't have time to restate the answers to oft-repeated questions.
If you use the forum search function,
http://www.leerburg.com/cgi-bin/UBB/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=search
and enter
'poop eating'
you will find about twenty threads that may help you with your problem. You could also try 'feces eating' or 'coprophagy'
If you do a search on Leerburg's main site, you will find five or six articles on that topic.
You could also ask your vet.

Ok I've searched through over 200 articles, I've used forbid (given by my Vet), with no results.
I don't have a problem with her during the weekends because I'm home, and I pick it up when I see her poop, however during the week i'm at work and when I come home i see the skid marks, where poop has been...
I will try the pineapple first, but I need to know if the canned is ok..or if I should get fresh pineapples.
Thanks

You can buy an enzyme supplement instead of feeding pineapple.

I have also used Super Papaya Enzymes to help my dogs digest their foods.
Have you checked to see if it is the diet in general? Making sure your pup is getting the proper proteins, grains, veggies etc could be the culprit as well, besides just needing enzymes to digest properly.

As long as you don't kiss her when you come home, it's no big deal. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Most pet stores don't carry enzymes, but you can find papain and lots of others at any health food or supplement store for humans.
