Awesome decoy work and work from the dogs eh? Now you see why us Ringers get hooked so deep in the sport, it is hard to compare it to other Dog-sports for pure unpredictable excitement from both the dogs and decoys!
That's Fernando Dosta from Mexico in the Dark Blue,black/ Lt Blue Demenant suit. I had a chance and honour to train with him this year. He was selected for the 2008 French Cup this past season and has done numerous NARA championships as well. Not only is he an awesome trial decoy but he is equal in skills as a training decoy too, and a great all around guy to boot.
wow- he's so graceful when he 'catches' the dog. I'm sure any regular person couldn't have stayed standing.
You have to figure that these guys and the dogs are at the top of the world. When we worked with Fernando at our Club Seminar and Trial you could compare it to playing Soccer with Beckham in your backyard, or Street Hockey with Wayne Gretzky that is the type of athleticism and raw talent that is there.
Another thing too in this video is all the action is in slow motion just to put the action into perspective. Any esquive is -.5 of a point in Ring, most of the times the dogs get esquived because they are coming fast and it has to be done to protect both the dog and decoy from injury. Hearing some of these hits on the field is like hearing 2 football players collide. Both man and beast do get injured it is a full contact sport.
