Move this where it belongs but!! 4 yr old GSD is now peeing in the house!!!!! Don't know if it is from 2yr old Mal who he does not get along with and is marking sensing him coming of age to challenge or him feeling all the tension around here due to marital problems. What can I do? Been cleaning with simple solutions and getting him out enough when I am home. Not much problem when I am home except a couple times when I was napping on the couch. Mostly find it when I come home from work and she has let him out of the bedroom. He has not gone in the bedroom only in living room next to den where Mal is in the crate. Starting to get me frustrated as if I don't have enough on my plate already. Not even going to spell check sorry
For what it's worth Mitch, I don't think your dog would be the first to pick up on vibes of problems within the pack, become unsettled about it's place and decide to start claiming 'my territory'.
I think it'd be easier to address the issue if only one dog was involved. Is there a division between whose dog is whose? Or are both dogs yours?
Mitch,
Is he marking, as in furniture is being pee'd on, or are you just finding puddles on the floor ( which would be more a sign of a medical problem )?
I would (1) take the dog to the vet just to make sure there's no medical condition causing/contributing to the problem (there are not always symptoms); (2) If the dog gets a clean bill of health from the vet, I'd tehter the dog to me, crate or otherwise confine the dog when not able to supervise 110% of the time while taking him through a housebreaking review. And, don't forget to use an enzyme cleaner so the odor is destroyed at the molecular level.
And try as much as possible to keep his regular routine during this trying time for you.
I say marking as he is hitting both sides of entry from living room to kitchen and on a chair close to door to den. He is acting fine. Am using simple solutions to clean (an enzyme cleaner)Thanks and forgot,Merry Christmas!! All dogs are mine
