I have been reading old posts in several different forums and I realize I want to train my next dog with marker training, crate training, etc.
Going over the old posts and coming up to the new ones, I noticed how training has changed and I want in also. I knew I was deficient in my methods but had no means to find out HOW to train better. I like positive reinforcement, but had no true idea how to do it efficiently.
I will be ordering a DVD on marker training. Hambone will be my experiment. He has the attention span of gnat, so it should be a good test. ( I did get him trained in many ways, but it took FOREVER!)
I want to say thanks for keeping the old threads. I found a lot of answers to questions I have.
Someday, I would love to attend a Schutzhund training session.
That would be an incredible experience. But, for now, I need to come into the 21 Century and learn about marker training.
I agree...I thought I had it down until I watched the videos! My Golden is so well behaved since I've started Mr. Frawley's training methods. I've had GSDs as a kid but I never paid attention to how my mom trained them. My mom can't even believe that my 8 month old golden is so wonderful. She bought a couple of the videos and she is amazed!!!
