I had a lady call me. She has 2 (sisters) 1 1/2 yr. rotties
who are very aggressive. I do not work with that kind of
dog any more but if someone wanted them for boundary
dogs or whatever, i could put you in touch with her. I
believe she is ready to put them down. (thought of doing
a consult with her with "one" on a muzzle but I just don't
have the time.
Utterly fantastic. Isn't there anyone nearby who DOES "have the time" if two lives are at stake?
Could you please send her to the board? We will try to help as best we can. Please. I hate to see 2 dogs put down for what I'm 90% sure are handler issues.
I think finding folks willing to take the dogs, separately, for rehabilitative training is the best BEST option. Giving these dogs out as "boundary dogs" creates a HUGE liability. I wouldn't want an aggressive, untrained dog (or two!) protecting MY property; can't imagine too many responsible folks who would think this is a great option either.
These dogs need responsible training and responsible rehoming. And at 1 1/2 years old they're not even mature yet and deserve a chance.
Well maybe now a days that is not an option but years ago it was. I placed a
dog with a well known trainer who was supplying dogs to factories and the
people were trained and coached by the trainer to take very good care of the dogs.
Obviously with all the "Animal Rights Activists" out there, even the THOUGHT is
a CRIME.
