The ice in 2007 was pretty, but it was also really sad to see so many 100 yr old or older trees completely shredded. It was months before they got the city cleaned up and back to normal.
We kept joking that it looked like the African villages that use thorn bushes as a perimeter fence to keep animals out, everyone had shoulder high piles of limbs and brush spanning the length of their yard on the curb.
I have giant rubbermaid tub ready to add a filter and heater to if we are going to loose power for any length of time so I can take the fish to my parents house and plug it in, since they have a generator. I won't be able to save all the fish, but the larger ones and the Loaches would be a devastating loss.
We were without power for 10 days during last year's ice storm. Luckily we have gas heat, so we stayed warm and were able to cook. Living by candlelight gets unromantic pretty quick, though! It was juuust starting to mist a little on my way to work this morning, so it should be nice and slick by lunch time. Wheeeee! Where are you Jennifer? I heard it was already getting bad in Norman.
